Section 8 software is transitioning to a new software program 
Below is the timeline of events:

april 30, 2022

Applicants that have not updated their application have a temporary inactive status on the waiting list and may be withdrawn from the waiting list if no update is received before April 30, 2022. 


Applicants who still have not updated their applications will now need to reapply


Any previous applicant who has missed the deadline has the option to fill out an reinstatement form which will than be looked at and a decision will be made by the Housing Authority whether to reinstate or not.

Section 8

What is Section 8 Housing?

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program provides rental assistance to income eligible tenants by subsidizing a portion of their monthly rents and paying it directly to their landlords.

Who is Eligible?

Eligibility for a housing voucher is determined by:

1) Total annual gross income. (Income limits vary by location and family size)

2) Family Size

3) Limited to US citizens and specified categories of non-citizens who have eligible immigration status

How to Apply?

There are a few different ways one can apply

Waterville Housing Authority has been awarded 15 Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHV).


These EHVs are to assist individuals and families who are

  • experiencing homelessness;

  • at risk of experiencing homelessness;

  • fleeing, or attempting to flee,

  • domestic violence,

  • dating violence,

  • sexual assault,

  • stalking,

  • or human trafficking;

  • or were recently homeless

and for whom providing rental assistance will prevent the family’s homelessness or having high risk of housing instability.

These vouchers require a referral from a Continuum of Care agency.
